18. AROUND THE WORLD (Questioning, Feedback)
Description: This is a mini-white board activity where students are engaged in friendly competition.
Application: Use Around the World as a review activity in most subjects, especially mathematics.
Process: At the end of a unit of learning, create numerous problems/questions from all levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. On class day, hand out a mini-white board, marker, and eraser to every student. Tell students that they will be competing against each other and that speed and accuracy matter. Select two students to get started, having the pair standing close but opposite of each other. Remind all students that they must also work the problem on the white boards but not to share their answers until asked. Pose a review question. When the first student reveals his answer, the other student reveals his answer, finished or not. Tell all the students to reveal their answers and students do a quick visual scan for accuracy. Direct the first that answered correctly to continue to compete with the next student. End the game when a student makes it completely around the room and back to his original seat.
